Winter Weather

We will be experiencing lower than seasonal temperatures with possible strong winds throughout this winter. We want you to know that we are aware of the possibility of adverse effects on children who are exposed to severely cold temperatures with high winds for relatively short periods of time. We will follow the National Weather Service Wind Chill Chart to guide decisions concerning recess.

If your child walks or rides a bicycle to school, it might be advisable to transport them when severe cold and wind conditions are present. Children riding the bus should not be outside for extended periods of time (15 to 20 minutes) waiting for the bus to arrive. The conditions of the road may cause delays in bus arrivals so it would be best to arrange for students to be kept out of the adverse conditions especially early in the morning. If children are walking to school or waiting to be picked up by the school bus and they wait outside, please ensure they are appropriately prepared for the conditions.

We know that you carefully monitor the weather conditions to keep your children safe. We want you to know we will also monitor weather conditions and make necessary adjustments to assist in that effort.

WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Comanche Intermediate Center. We are certainly honored to have the opportunity to educate your child. We look forward to developing a positive relationship with each student that crosses the threshold into CIC.

While Comanche Intermediate Center is large in size you will find a very caring and supportive atmosphere. The teachers and administration are dedicated to making everyone feel welcome, safe and secure in our school.

Please share in our successes as we enter into the 2009-2010 school year. We have several activities planned that will prove to be very beneficial. We are committed to our students and will continue to set high expectations and goals for them. We would like to extend an invitation to all of you to become active in this process.

We look forward to another exciting year at CIC. Please feel free to visit at any time; just remember to check in at the office first for the safety of our children. Thank you for your support and hope to see you often.

Sincerely,
Mr. Marc Woofter
Principal
