    There will be a non-mandatory pre-bid conference held at 10:30 AM, May 2, 2018 at Miller Elementary, 1100 Ave. G, Dodge City, KS 67801. Bids will be accepted from contractors who do not attend this pre-bid conference, but change orders will not be allowed for conditions known to exist at the time of the pre-bid conference.

    SECTION 03 – ASBESTOS ABATEMENT SCOPE OF WORK Part 1 GENERAL

    1.1 OVERVIEW

    1. The scope of work covered herein shall consist of removal and disposal of specified asbestos containing materials (ACM) in various USD 443 buildings located in Dodge City, Kansas.

    Part 2 SCOPE OF WORK & ABATEMENT SCHEDULE

    Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, and supervision necessary for the inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance, of fourteen (15) Fire Alarm Systems at all District-owned buildings.  All inspection and testing to be per National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). 

    Dates of inspection can start July 1, 2018 and needs to be completed by July 28, 2018

    Panel Components and Functions: In accordance with NFPA and manufacturer’s recommendations, all panel components shall be tested for proper function including, but not limited to, applicable input/output voltage readings, proper grounding, LED and lamp test, alarm and trouble circuitry.  All devices shall be logged for proper zone or address verification. Standby batteries shall be checked for age and load tested to ensure proper charging and adequate power capacity.

    Smoke Detectors: Smoke detectors shall be functionally tested using a smoke generator, punk stick, or other method acceptable to the device manufacturer.  No device using an open flame or acrid smoke shall be used for testing.  Canned aerosol smoke must be CFC free and shall not leave any residual material (oily surface, etc.)  Magnet testing will not be accepted as a functional test protocol.

    Manual Pull Stations: Pull stations shall be opened to verify operation, inspect electrical contacts, and ensure proper mounting.

    Audible and Visible Signal Devices: Audible and visual devices shall be tested at full operation at least once annually to document proper operation and volume levels.  After initial testing is documented, each initiating device shall be tested silently for minimal disturbance. Contractor shall provide a minimum of two (2) walkie-talkie radio equipped Fire Alarm Technicians while testing the Fire Alarm system's audible devices in order to minimize disturbance to the occupants of the building.  Wherever possible, such tests shall be performed after normal school classroom hours.
