District employees attend Ford County CCR Safety Training

Recently district employees attended a safety training provided by Ford County CCR. The day started with Carly Posey sharing her story of what happened inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut; we learned how the unthinkable changed her family forever.

The remainder of the day was a seminar on emergency responses and reunification plans presented by the "I Love U Guys" Foundation. The "I Love U Guys" Foundation offers training to community members, school districts, departments, agencies, and organizations. They illustrate the importance of planning and preparing for a crisis.

Dodge City Public Schools has adopted the "I Love U Guys" Standard Response Protocols for school emergencies, which means each building uses the same language and protocols in emergencies. Dodge City 443 is updating reunification procedures to lessen the stress of the crisis itself by providing a chain of custody for every student. Preparedness is beneficial in many scenarios, including severe weather, power outages, and threats of violence.
