DCHS Welcomes Victorino Alvarado as Assistant Principal

We are pleased to announce that Victorino Alvarado has accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Dodge City High School.  Victor will begin his role in the district on July 1, 2025. He will be replacing Amy Herter who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Victorino was born in Durango, Mexico in 1985; he is the eighth child of 10 siblings. In the summer of 1998, at the age of 14 he moved with his family to the United States where he went to school at Southwestern Heights. Once he graduated from high school he played soccer at Dodge City Community College while attaining his Associates Degree.

He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Kansas Wesleyan in 2008, his Master of Science degree in Education from Newman University, and a Building Level License from Newman University.

Alvarado started his career in Holcomb, Kansas where he taught for five years, followed by three years as an administrator in Kinsley, Kansas.  Most recently, he served as principal for 6-12 grades at Satanta – USD 507.  Victor and his wife Angelica have three children: Jazmin, Violeta, and Mateo.

In his free time Victor enjoys spending time with his family creating memories.  He enjoys traveling and exploring new places.  He still plays competitive soccer, participating in Sunday league or indoor tournaments in Dodge City and Garden City.

DCHS Principal Martha Mendoza shared her excitement about the new addition to the leadership team: “I’m excited to welcome Mr. Alvarado as our new assistant principal. He brings the kind of experience and understanding that makes an immediate difference. He knows Southwest Kansas well; he understands our strengths, our needs, and most importantly, he knows our community. He’s bilingual and brings valuable experience at the high school level. I’m confident he will be a strong advocate and impactful addition to our team.”
