Courses Offered

CABINETMAKING 1 & 2 Students learn the basics of cabinet making and shop tool safety.  Students learn how to construct all components to make cabinets, countertops, and hardware. 

Projects include various pieces of furniture and then advance to a full set of custom cabinets and countertops for the DCHS residential home.

COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING & RESEARCH AND DESIGN IN CONSTRUCTION | Students learn the basics of CAD on a computer to design and create blueprints, diagrams, and house plans.  They also learn and research the history of design. 

Projects include various forms of design and programs in the CAD world.  Students advance to a full set of residential house plans as a project.  Students also design, construct, and test various projects throughout the course.

RESIDENTAL CARPENTRY 1 & 2, RESEARCH AND DESIGN IN BUILDING TRADES & BUILDING TRADES | Students learn the basics of residential design and construction.  They are exposed to several safety and construction tools throughout the pathway.  Students receive several certifications in the construction careers and dual credit towards a construction career.

Projects include and range from decks, storage sheds, and gazebos.  The main focus project is the $275,000 residential home the students build every year in the upper level courses.
