Academic Goal A.1.1

Academic Goal A.1.1

Goal A.1.1: increase the percentage of students at or above Performance Level Descriptor (PLD) level 2 upper half on annual KAP reading assessments by an average of 10% or greater/year.

Action Steps
During the 2026-2027 school year the following will be focus areas as action steps to meet the annual benchmark targets of this goal:

  1. New ELA Resources:  new resources will be deployed K-12. There will be Curriculum Based Professional learning collaborative planning sessions established throughout the year by grade level.  In these meetings staff will use the district CBPL guidance documents to plan for the upcoming unit in a “backwards design” fashion starting with reviewing the unit summative assessment, identification of key ELA standards assessed and backwards map the instruction, tiered supports and formative assessment deployed.
  2. ELA Proficiency Pilot:  there will be a limited pilot at each level. This assessment is a quick screener of the standards taught during the instructional period leading up to the screening date.  Screeners will occur each quarter and will be assessed at a DoK level 2 or 3 for each grade level standard taught during that quarter.  The teachers will receive the results within 3 days and the will participate in a collaborative review of the data, instructional practices, trajectory for their students to be “at grade level” on the spring KAP ELA assessments and to share best practices.
