Honoring Our Transportation Team

Dodge City, Kansas – During National School Bus Safety Week, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible transportation team—our drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and support staff—who keep the wheels of our transportation department turning every day. While they are often working diligently behind the scenes, their dedication ensures our students arrive at school and return home safely each and every day. Please join us in thanking them for their hard work and unwavering commitment to our student body!
Community Tips for School Bus Safety
-
For Motorists
- Obey Flashing Lights:
- Yellow Flashing Lights: Prepare to stop; the bus is preparing to load or unload children.
- Red Flashing Lights & Extended Stop Arm: Stop completely. Traffic from both directions must stop (unless separated by a physical median on a divided highway).
- Maintain Distance: Keep a safe distance of at least 10–12 feet behind a stopping bus to allow children adequate room to cross safely.
- Stay Alert in School Zones: Watch for children walking or biking near bus stops, sidewalks, and intersections, especially during morning and afternoon commute times.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support in keeping our roads safe. Together, we can ensure every school bus journey is a safe one! ❤️
