Relevant
What is the learning topic/goal(s)? What need(s) does this meet & for whom?
- Topics include:
- Integrating health into the physical education classroom.
- Fencing activity with safe equipment
- Kansas PE Teachers of the Year sharing their knowledge.
- This professional development will be for all grade levels of teachers. In addition, this will help those in attendance learn more about teaching important health lessons while still participating in physical activity.
Aligned
How is this learning aligned to state, district, &/or building goals?
- This Professional development will address all physical education standards. The district strategic plan includes two culture goals, one on self-efficacy and one on BSEL. Both of these will be supported in this professional development.
Data-driven
What data will be used to determine need & monitor progress? How will it be used?
- From a teacher standpoint our PE teaches often do not get direct content professional development and often times find themselves stuck in doing the same activities. This professional development will allow them to see outside perspectives from teachers who have had great success with students from across the state. Our students deserve a well rounded education that includes quality physical education and health. Both are necessary as we look to prepare healthy members of society who can contribute in a positive way.
Action-oriented
How will the learning take place? How will the learning be supported?
- Initial Activity (Level 1)
- KAHPERD Winter Workshop - February 11, 2023
- Supporting Activity (Level 2)
- I believe that in a future USD 443 PD these teachers should be able to give a summary of what they learned and share at least two new concepts with their co-workers. In addition, they should be able to share how they have (or will) implement this into their classroom.
Results-driven
What is the anticipated impact on teachers? On students?
- Interim Outcome(s)
- To be able to open their minds to new lessons and concepts that can have a positive impact on themselves and our students.
- To be an active participant in all of the sessions.
- Final Outcome(s)
- To be able bring the information and knowledge gained back to their schools and USD 443 and put it into action in a way that will impact the district goals.
- To use the information gained to grow as a professional.
