What is the learning topic/goal(s)? What need(s) does this meet & for whom?

  • One of the goals of the district counselors is to become ASCA (American School Counselor Association) aligned. In order to do this, it is essential for the district counselors to attend the KSCA (Kansas School Counselors Association) Conference to stay informed of the new legislation, laws, standards, and other pertinent information related to school counseling.
  • Counselors have also set individual building goals and by attending the conference, they will receive valuable knowledge and information to help attain those goals.

Aligned
How is this learning aligned to state, district, &/or building goals?

  • This conference will include sessions that are aligned to the state and national counseling standards. The conference is aligned to the issues and needs that the counselors of Kansas are facing. Sessions will focus on strengthening the schools comprehensive counseling programs.
  • The district pays for each counselor to be a member of ASCA and so the conference aligns with the ideals of the district.
  • Sessions will also include helpful information to aid in the counselors in reaching their building specific goals.

Data-driven
What data will be used to determine need & monitor progress? How will it be used?

  • The counselors will continue to monitor the following data in order to know if the new knowledge gained at the conference is aiding in meeting their building goals as well as helping within their comprehensive counseling programs. This will also help them to shore up any weak places in their ASCA alignment:
  • SAEBRS
  • Individual/group counseling services through Skyward Attendance through Educlimber
  • Grades
  • Behavior Referrals

Action-oriented

Results-driven
What is the anticipated impact on teachers? On students?

  • Interim Outcome(s)
    • Counselors will bring back new knowledge they attained at the conference and will use it meet the building goals, strengthen each schools comprehensive counseling program, and become ASCA aligned.
  • Final Outcome(s)
